Spending July 4th in Big Bear is never a disappointment! fireworks in big bear

Come on up and enjoy the biggest fourth of July fireworks display in Southern California. There’s always a lot going on in Big Bear surrounding the independence day holiday no matter what day of the week the holiday falls on. If you’re looking for a good old fashioned holiday experience there is none better than the festivities we offer in Big Bear Lake.

Our destination allows folks to escape the summer heat experienced at lower altitude locations while participating in a variety of entertainment and recreational options. Big Bear Lakes Fourth of July celebration sets itself apart from many other Southern California destinations for just that reason.

Always on July 4th, Our “Fireworks Extravaganza” is guaranteed to ignite the senses and be an awesome show. The brilliantly colored   pyrotechnics begin approximately at 8:45pm and will sustain itself for an all out spectacular shower of brilliance cascading over our awesome lake for 30 minutes in duration. Big Bear Lakes fireworks display consistently ranks in the top five in California. The Rotary Club of Big Bear always organizes this event and ensures that the fireworks selected for the display is of the highest quality. Being careful to be safe, the fireworks are shot off from a barge on the lake and are viewable from any of   Big Bears public parks.

While the show is free of charge, spectators can view it from many vantage points. We think the best place   to be is on a boat on the lake with some blankets, hot coffee (hot cocoa for kids), while listening to KBHR or a patriotic ensemble on your itunes. If a boat isn’t an option there are plenty of other places to take advantage of the show from around the lake and throughout the Valley, including locations on the North Shore.

You don’t really need to be lakefront in order to see the fireworks from your deck or windows at the cabin. For the best selection of cabin options to rent over the fourth of July holiday we recommend reserving well ahead to avoid disappointment.

The   Rotary Club also hosts their annual July fourth barbecue at the Marina Resort on Pine Knot and Big Bear Blvd. Not only is there an eclectic array of culinary good eats but there is also live entertainment as well as mid-way carnival games and crafts for the whole family to enjoy all day long on independence day ! This waterfront location is the best land site for viewing the spectacular show, also available for purchase are VIP seats for premium and preferred seating. Other options would be to bring your own chairs and blankets.

Once you’ve eaten you may want to browse the streets of the village, there are many quaint shops to explore as well as cinemas to take in a movie or other restaurants and goodies to discover. All in walking distance from the Marina Resort and the main event barbecue.

Another family fun zone on Independence day, and for days surrounding the fourth of July, is the merriment held at the Big Bear Convention Center. There is more fun to be had by the entire family here as well.   Features include live entertainment, lots of arts & crafts, children’s activities, a petting zoo and unique, one of a kind, hand made crafts and collectibles. There’s also a patio with food service. Children under 12 are free to enter, there’s a small fee for others.

If you’re looking for a lazy lounging day at the cabin, the best American past time would be to throw some dogs and burgers on the grill, make some homemade potato salad and some hearty baked beans and your good to go. Top that off with some homemade apple pie and ice-cream and you are truly living the American dream!   Decorate your deck with some red, white, and blue streamers and its party time!

Anything you choose to do to celebrate will be perfect since you are spending it in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains.

Come on up for an old fashioned favorite American tradition!
