The markets in Big Bear are no more expensive than shopping down the hill and bringing it up. So, save yourself and do your market shopping in Big Bear. Big Bear Lake has a Vons and Stater Bro.’s Supermarkets as well as quite a few smaller markets with a wide selection of fresh produce, breads, pasta and meats.

"Community Market", in Big Bear City, has a reputation for high quality meats. "Select Foods", on the strip in Big Bear City, always has great prices, stocking fresh produce and "The Basics". You'll also find fine gourmet wines and microbrewed beers in some of the smaller markets. Check out "Liquor Junction" in Big Bear City for a great selection of microbrews and imports. Also look into "Home of the Hangover" at the bottom of Moonridge and Big Bear Blvd. That little building has quite a varied selection.

If you are coming to Big Bear for Thanksgiving, you can place your orders with Von’s or Stater’s, including a turkey, before you leave and pick them up when you arrive. Just be sure to allow time for your turkey to thaw before the big day if you are cooking it yourself. If you're cooking yourself, browse our blog for some ideas that may inspire you to do something a little different with your Thanksgiving meal preparation.

If you have activities planned such as being on the slopes or at the snow play hills you may choose to order a fully prepared traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings from our local markets.
